The Story
Love at First Sight came from meeting Kaʻale, a young Hawaiian monk seal with enough curiosity and personality to completely hijack my attention.
He wasn’t just cute. He was nosy, playful, mischievous, and clearly making his own decisions about the interaction. That individuality is what stuck with me.
I wanted the painting to feel like him, not like a generic wildlife portrait—softness with personality underneath it, something warm without becoming sweet.
Some encounters are beautiful in the moment and then fade.
Kaʻale absolutely did not.
