The Story
Old Soul New Star came from an encounter with a baby humpback in Tahiti that somehow felt ancient and brand new at the same time.
At first, he was calm. Floating. Watching.
Then the kid showed up.
A sudden burst of movement and play completely changed the energy, and that contrast stayed with me—the sense that something can feel deeply wise without becoming serious or heavy.
That’s what I wanted in the painting. Depth, but still joy. Presence, but still curiosity.
The kind of old soul that hasn’t forgotten how to have fun.
“There was something in his eyes—like he’d lived a thousand lifetimes and still hadn’t lost his wonder.” ~Kristy
