The Story
Salt and Soul started with a completely different destination in mind: I painted it specifically to live on a pair of freediving fins.
The idea came after my first real encounter with humpback whales—huge waves, sensory overload, whale song vibrating through my body, dark water underneath me—and then one massive whale moved straight toward me. Everything else seemed to shut off.
That moment hooked me.
I wanted to carry that feeling back into the water with me, so the artwork was created for fins first. The canvas came afterward, because the piece ended up carrying more than I expected and deserved a life beyond the dive.
That origin is what makes this one different for me. It wasn’t artwork adapted onto fins later. The fins were part of the reason the artwork existed in the first place.
